9. We study the prophecies because God has given us SO MANY scriptures concerning the End. Listen to Jesus' teaching on this, then look at the OVERVIEW that follows. How many times is “the end” spoken of in the following verses? ______
In Matthew 24:3 the disciples asked Jesus:
“What will be the sign of your
coming and of the end of the age?"
“Watch out that no one deceives you. For many will come in my name, claiming, ‘I am the Messiah,’ and will deceive many. You will hear of wars and rumors of wars...but the end is still to come.... There will be famines and earthquakes. All these are the beginning of birth pains. Then (Great Tribulation) you will be handed over to be persecuted and put to death, and you will be hated by all nations because of me. Because of the increase of wickedness, the love of most will grow cold, but the one who stands firm to the end will be saved. And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come. (gospel to all: Rev 14:6) “So when you see standing in the holy place ‘the abomination that causes desolation’ (Antichrist) … there will be great distress (Great Tribulation), unequaled from the beginning of the world until now—and never to be equaled again…but for the sake of the elect those days will be shortened… as lightning that comes from the east is visible even in the west, so will be the coming of the Son of Man. “Immediately after the distress of those days ‘the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light; the stars will fall from the sky, and the heavenly bodies will be shaken. “Then will appear the… Son of Man (Jesus) in heaven. And then all the peoples of the earth will mourn when they see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven, with power and great glory. And he will send his angels with a loud trumpet call, and they will gather his elect (rapture) from the four winds, from one end of the heavens to the other. “And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” Matt. 24:3-9, 12-15, 21-22 ,27, 29-31; 28:20
10. What will be the sign of your coming and of the end of the age?"
Jesus c______ back in the e____.
11. Jesus said to the churches …”hold on to what you have until I come.’ To the one who is victorious and does my will to the end, I will give authority over the nations…” Rev. 2:25,26
The ch_____ remains on earth to the e_____.
12. Daniel "...go your way till the end. You will rest, and then at the end of the days you will rise to receive your allotted inheritance." Dan. 12:13
Believers r_____ (are raptured off the earth) in the e____.
“The End” is found 8 times in the verses above!
So, what happens in
The End??
We see from the verses above that in the end:
Jesus will appear with a loud trumpet blast and call Believers up
into the clouds, commonly referred to as the rapture.
Before the rapture, Jesus says there must be “birth pains” (these line up with Seals 1, 2, and 3 in Revelation). These will be ANTICHRISTS (especially the one that will oppose, and seek to take the place of, Jesus Christ), WARS and FAMINES The wars and famines will bring Disease (Seal 4- DEATH). Then the Great Tribulation will begin when the Antichrist declares himself to be God. The 4th Seal includes death by “wild BEASTS.” The word “wild” is implied but not actually in the original script. The Greek word used means ‘brute’ and is the same Greek word used to describe The Beast (Antichrist) and his minion who implements the 666 Mark in Revelation 13. (Paul uses that same word to describe evil men in Titus 1:12). Anyone without Antichrist’s mark will be targeted (Seal 5- MARTYRS). Jesus said that the end would NOT come until the gospel is preached around the world (accomplished by the church and the gospel angel in Revelation 14:6,7). He says to the Church that we, though hated by all nations, are to stand strong to the end.
Seal 6 tells us of the COSMIC SIGNS that signal the end: Christ’s return and the rapture of the church. These same COSMIC SIGNS signal The Day of the Lord’s wrath: Sun darkened, moon blood red, stars falling (Isaiah 13:9-11). Daniel speaks of that day: “He said: “I am going to tell you what will happen later in the time of wrath, because the vision concerns the appointed time of the end. “ Daniel 8:19.
God will judge the Antichrist after a time of SILENCE (Seal 7) Habakkuk 2 “For the revelation awaits an appointed time; it speaks of the end and will not prove false. Though it linger, wait for it… Because he (evil ruler) is as greedy as the grave and like death is never satisfied, he gathers to himself all the nations and takes captive all the peoples. The cup from the Lord’s right hand (judgment) is coming around to you, and disgrace will cover your glory. The Lord is in his holy temple; let all the earth be silent before him.” Seal 6 is the Rapture and Seal 7 is SILENCE, just before the wrath of God is poured out in the Trumpet and Bowl judgments.
So, “The End” is not only the return of Jesus
and the Rapture of the Church, but also
“the time of w______” (Day of the Lord judgments).
This is a significant term that we need to understand!
Have you ever read any of these verses before?____
Is there anything new or surprising that you’ve learned?
__________________________________________________________
NOTE:
Some people argue that false messiahs, wars, famines, pandemics and people dying for their faith (martyrdom) have been happening throughout history. What will make these common events different in The End? Jesus says that in the middle of this final seven year period there will be great distress, like never has been or ever will be. This is how we know there is a specific time period for these events to happen. Also, these events will be very specific to the timing of the end because Jesus’ words are answering the specific question the disciples asked, “What will be the sign of your coming and the End of the age?”
We know we are not in that final 7 years because these events begin with the Shout of Revelation 13:5, when Jesus receives the End Time scroll. When we experience a worldwide SHOUT of praise to God we will know the scroll has been taken. The words Jesus speaks outlining his coming and the End of the age (Matt. 24) match the Seals on that scroll. Those events can't happen before Jesus takes the scroll and starts lifting the seals.
DAY 2 STUDY
The Scroll tells of the Events leading to
"Jesus' coming and of the end of the age"
Matthew 24:3
In Matthew 24
Jesus clearly lays out events that will happen before
his coming again for His Bride, the Church.
These same events are seen in the first six Seals
on the scroll in Revelation 6.
What events must happen before the End– before Christ comes for those who love him and The Day of the Lord begins?
Before the End can come the first 5 Seals of Revelation’s scroll must be broken and the prophesied events take place: “Birth Pains” consisting of Antichrist, wars, famine and death and then the “Hard Labor Pains” (Great Tribulation) of martyrdom in the second half. Note that the Seals are NOT the wrath of God because those killed for their faith, seen in the 5th Seal (Revelation 6) are asking, “When will you pour out your wrath/judgment, Lord?” They are told to wait a little longer, till the full number of martyrs to be killed are killed. The wrath comes after the 7th seal is broken and the Scroll is opened, announcing the Trumpet and Bowl judgments.
What are these Seals that are being broken?
Where is the Scroll they are keeping sealed until it’s time?
Who has the Scroll and why is it so important?
What’s the backstory and how does that affect me?
Study on to find out!
Scrolls were the books and important documents of Jesus’ day. Seals of clay were adhered to binding cords and signified the persons and/or conditions that were to be present for the document to be legally opened. We believe the scroll contains the Day of the Lord Trumpet Judgments.
All 7 Seals must be broken (fulfilled) before The Scroll is opened
and God’s wrath pours out on all that is evil.
1. So, who has this scroll and where is it found? ______________________
In chapter 5 of Revelation, we're shown what will happen in the End time. In the throne room of heaven Jesus will one day receive The Scroll from his Father. He alone is worthy to open it because he crushed the serpent’s (Satan's) head (Gen 3:14,15; Col 2:15). He sacrificed his life on the cross to pay our debt of sin. By rising from the grave, he displayed his power over death and Satan. He ransomed people from every tribe and language, bringing us out of the kingdom of darkness and into His kingdom of light (look up and read all of Revelation 5:7-14). Col 1:13,14 “For he has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son he loves, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.” One day, when Jesus takes the scroll from His Father, praise will start at the throne and pour out of heaven onto all creation to awaken hearts around the world. This SHOUT of Spirit-led worship will be a call to salvation for all people. Then, each person will have to choose whom they will trust and follow: Jesus or Satan. The Seals are events that will make the contrast between Satan and Jesus abundantly clear. These final years are God’s call to a stubborn world to repent and turn to Him for true love and life!
I heard every creature
in heaven and on earth and under the earth and on the sea,
and all that is in them, saying:
"To him who sits on the throne and to the Lamb
be praise and honor and glory and power,
for ever and ever!"
Rev 5:13.
We believe this SHOUT will start the
final 7 years
as Jesus begins to break the
7 Seals on the Scroll!
2. Will the whole world be saved when they praise God the Father and Jesus, the Lamb? _____ The answer is NO, each person must turn from their own way of living (sin) and believe in Jesus as their Savior and Lord in order to to be called God’s child and inherit eternal life (John 1:12).
3. Remember, before the Seals on the Scroll can be broken, the s_______ must be taken by J________ as prophesied in Revelation 5:
“Then I saw a scroll in the right hand of the One seated on the throne. It had writing on both sides and was sealed with seven seals. And I saw a mighty angel proclaiming in a loud voice, “Who is worthy to break the seals and open the scroll?” ...Behold, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, has triumphed to open the scroll and its seven seals.”
Following the SHOUT,
several more events must happen as the first 5 Seals
on the Scroll are removed by Jesus.
4. Before Jesus returns in The End a number of events must take place. Jesus describes the coming of The End in birthing terms. He told his disciples that there will be birth pains and then hard labor (squeezing). Birth pains are the beginning labor where the mother feels pain but can continue doing some of her normal activities. Hard labor is when the contractions become so strong that the woman must stop everything to get through the intense pain. By the time the baby is ready to be delivered the contractions are coming one upon another, with no break in between. Jesus is telling us that events will get more and more intense as the time of our delivery draws nearer and nearer. MATT 24:5-8 “You will hear of wars and rumors of wars, but see to it that you are not alarmed. Such things must happen, but the end is still to come. Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be famines and earthquakes in various places. All these are the beginning of birth pains.” (these line up with the first 3 seals of Revelation 6)
The first 3½ years are B_____ P_____ consisting of false messiahs (Antichrist), wars, and famines.
5. Jesus says another thing must happen before he can return: “And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come.” Matt. 24:13,14 “Then I saw another angel flying in midair, and he had the eternal gospel to proclaim to those who live on the earth—to every nation, tribe, language and people. He said in a loud voice, “Fear God and give him glory, because the hour of his judgment has come. Worship him…”. Rev. 14:6,7
Before the end can come all nations will hear the g________ (good news) proclaimed by the Church in words and actions and by the Revelation angel’s call to repentance and belief (Matt 24:13,14; Rev 5:13, 14:6).
6. Before the End comes, a new t_________ must be built in Jerusalem because the Antichrist “sets himself up in God’s temple, proclaiming himself to be God“ 2 Thes. 2:4. Jesus said there will be Great Tribulation as the Antichrist breaks his covenant with Israel, proclaims himself to be God in the temple at Jerusalem, and attacks God’s people. This is the continuation of Seal number 4 which starts out as Death by sword, famine, disease (Rev. 6:8) and then adds “by the wild beasts.” [the very word used in Rev. 13 to describe the Antichrist Beast: θηρίον (thérion) “Brute”]. Seal 5: Martyrs in heaven, speaks of persecution and death as the Antichrist demands complete allegiance to himself. Matthew 24:15,16, 21,22 “So when you see standing in the holy place (temple) ‘the abomination that causes desolation’ (Antichrist), spoken of through the prophet Daniel - let the reader understand - then let those in Judea (Israel) flee to the mountains… For then there will be great distress (Great Tribulation), unequaled from the beginning of the world until now—and never to be equaled again. If those days had not been cut short, no one would survive, but for the sake of the elect (Christ-followers) those days will be shortened (rapture).” 2 Thessalonians 2:3-4 “Don’t let anyone deceive you in any way, for that day (Day of the Lord judgments) will not come until the rebellion occurs and the man of lawlessness is revealed (Antichrist), the man doomed to destruction. He will oppose and will exalt himself over everything that is called God or is worshiped” Daniel 9:27 “He (Antichrist) will confirm a covenant with many for one ‘seven.’ In the middle (3½ years) of the ‘seven’ he will put an end to sacrifice and offering. And at the temple he will set up an abomination that causes desolation (himself), until the end that is decreed is poured out on him.”
7. Before the End can come, the temple in J___________ must be rebuilt. The religious Jews have already made the Temple furnishings needed to restart the sacrifices. Will part of the Antichrist’s appeal to the Jews be that he makes it possible for the Temple to be rebuilt in Jerusalem, where currently the Muslims forbid it? The temple will be built and then the Antichrist will enter it, declaring himself to be God and demand the whole world worship him!
8. Before the E the Restrainer must be taken out of the way so the Antichrist can reveal himself. 2 Thessalonians 2:7 “For the secret power of lawlessness is already at work; but the one who now holds it back (restrains) will continue to do so till he is taken out of the way.” Some teach this restrainer is the Holy Spirit. However, if the Holy Spirit is removed, how are a multitude without number saved out of the Great Tribulation (Rev 7:9-14), since no one is saved without the work of the Spirit convicting them? 1 Thes. 1:5 “…our gospel came to you not simply with words but also with power, with the Holy Spirit and deep conviction.” Romans 8:9 “But if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he does not belong to Him.” John 16: 7-8 “But very truly I tell you, it is for your good that I am going away. Unless I go away, the Advocate (Holy Spirit) will not come to you; but if I go, I will send him to you. When he comes, he will convict the world in regard to sin and righteousness and judgment…” See the EXTRA studies in section 7 to further unpack this verse.
9. Before the End, Jerusalem will be attacked by the Antichrist. Some Jews will be killed or dragged away, some will worship the Antichrist and some will f____ to the wilderness. At this midway point of the final 7 years a portion of Israel will flee and be protected by God. We who claim Jesus as Savior and Lord will be persecuted. Revelation 12:14,17 “The woman (Israel) was given the two wings of a great eagle, so that she might fly to the place prepared for her in the wilderness, where she would be taken care of for a time, times and half a time (3½ years), out of the serpent’s (Satan) reach. Then the dragon was enraged at the woman and went off to wage war against the rest of her *offspring —those who keep God’s commands and hold fast their testimony about Jesus (Christians).” * “If you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham’s seed (spiritual children, with a faith like he had: Israel’s offspring), heirs of the promise.” GAL 3:29
10. Matt 24:21,22 “For then there will be great tribulation, such as has not been from the beginning of the world until now, no, and never will be. For the sake of the elect those days will be shortened.” The final 3 ½ years are called the G_________ T___________________ (literally: distress, hard labor, squeezing”) triggered by the Antichrist breaking his covenant with Israel and proclaiming himself to be G____ in the temple at Jerusalem. At this time, many of those who keep God’s commands and refuse to deny their faith in Jesus will be martyred at the hand of the Satan-controlled Antichrist. MARK 13:13 “Everyone will hate you because of me, but the one who stands firm to the end will be saved.” God knows the exact number of martyrs who will die for their faith (Rev. 6:11, 14:3).
We are not to fear or be dismayed.
The Great Tribulation is cut short by our gathering/rapture when J______ returns, (Mark 13:19-29)
and The End begins!
“ For me, to live is Christ and to die is gain.” Phil. 1:21
11. Before the End, two Witnesses from God appear -Most likely Moses and Elijah (Law and the Prophets). These are the two who came to Jesus on the Mount of Transfiguration to encourage him in Matt. 17:3). They will appear in Jerusalem for the last 3.5 years. Rev. 11:3,5, 6-7 “And I will appoint my two witnesses, and they will prophesy for 1,260 days (3.5 years)... If anyone tries to harm them, fire comes from their mouths and devours their enemies. They have power to shut up the heavens ... and to strike the earth with every kind of plague as often as they want. Now when they have finished their testimony, the beast that comes up from the Abyss will attack them, and overpower and kill them.” 11 But after three and a half days, the breath of life from God entered them… they went up to heaven in a cloud, while their enemies looked on.”
Who will be with Believers in telling others about God’s coming Judgment? __________ ___________
12. Before the End, Christians must persevere, letting Christ’s light shine out. Just as labor pains cause a woman to focus on her baby’s coming, so too, the “labor pains” introduced by the lifting of the Revelation’s 6 Seals bring the church to focus on Christ’s coming and our delivery from this earth. Jesus said we would suffer in this world because of hatred (John 15:18) and the earth groaning under the curse (Romans 8:19-23) and because we are strangers in this world, the kingdom of Satan (1 Peter 4:3-5). Jesus has conquered Satan and the world, but we must believe his Word and rely on him if we are to know that victory on a daily basis. Philippians 2:13-16 “For it is God who works in you to will and to act in order to fulfill his good purpose. Do everything without grumbling or arguing, so that you may become blameless and pure, children of God without fault in a warped and crooked generation. Then you will shine among them like stars in the sky as you hold out the word of life. And then I will be able to boast on the day of Christ that I did not run or labor in vain. “
⭐ People are looking for hope in a dark world. ⭐
See The Shout tract at the end of this booklet.
Feel free to print it and share with friends and enemies alike!
Do you grumble and argue or do you shine by holding out God’s truth with love? _________ We can persevere when we know God loves us and has a plan. We must hold firmly to God’s word, the Bible and the Word of Life, Jesus Christ. We must be letting God’s Spirit fill and control us if we have any hope of living like Christ in this hostile world and drawing others to know Him as their Savior and Lord!
When we lived in Africa we used kerosene lanterns when it got dark. We had to trim the wick before we lit it or the glass would soon be full of soot and make the light inside ineffective. Cleaning the glass globe was a messy job but necessary so the light could shine out. This is such a great picture for Believers, God’s light holders. If we don’t allow God to trim off that which is dirty (sin in our life) then we will become more compromised (sooty) and God’s light will not be seen.
13. What is blocking God’s light from shining out of you?? ______________________
14. Will you repent, asking God to trim away what is messing up your life and clean you up so others can see him in your life? Yes / No
Matthew 5:16 “...let your good deeds shine out for all to see,
so that everyone will praise your heavenly Father.”
15. What can you do to share the love of God this week? ________________________
“Then the end will come,
when he hands over the kingdom
to God the Father after he has destroyed all dominion,
authority and power.”
1 COR 15:24
After studying all the Scriptures above it seems obvious that
The End is the whole last year of the final 7 years
starting with the rapture of the church and ending, after an extra 75 days, (Daniel 12:12)
when Jesus destroys the Antichrist and Beast kingdom with the Bowl Judgments and Armageddon.
He will throw the Antichrist and false prophet into the lake of fire and chain Satan for a thousand years.
Then he will hand the kingdom over to God the Father, the Ancient of Days. The Father will appoint him to rule on earth for 1000 years and then forever in the age to come. Look up these verses to learn more:
Luke 1:31-33; Dan. 2:44; 7:11-14; Rev. 11:15, 19:19-21; Acts 2:30,31; Heb.1:10-12; 12:25-29; Zech. 2: 10-13, 14:9
16. The END encompasses the whole last y______ of the Final 7 Years spoken of in Daniel’ prophecies, starting with the 2nd C________ of Jesus and rapture of the church, then the Day of the Lord and ending when J______ has thrown the Antichrist and false prophet into the lake of fire and bound Satan with chains. (destroying their authority and power. (Rev. 19:10)
Just as Jesus’ first coming encompassed many events (birth, life, death, resurrection) so too will His 2nd Coming (Appearing in the clouds, rapture of believers, Day of the Lord judgments/wrath against evil, handing over the kingdom to the Father)
DAY 3 STUDY
Jesus Fights for Us to the End!
“All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore, go and make disciples of all nations…
And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” Matt. 28:18-20
Freed !
Jesus Christ came the first time to take back the authority that Adam and Eve had given over to Satan when they obeyed him rather than God. Adam and Eve exchanged their birthright of life for the curse of death and were driven from the Garden of Eden and a close walk with God! (Genesis 3:1) Romans 6:16 "Do you not know that when you offer yourselves as obedient slaves, you are slaves to the one you obey, whether you are slaves to sin leading to death, or to obedience leading to righteousness?" We too, as sons of Adam and daughters of Eve, have been born outside of the Kingdom/Garden walls, outside of fellowship with God. Jesus, the sinless Son of God, took that curse on himself and died in our place: the price of sin is death. Because Jesus never once disobeyed the Father he was perfect and death could not hold him. He rose again from the grave with the keys of death in his hand. He invites us into eternal life through him. (Acts 2:23-24; Rev 1:17-18) Jesus "suffered death, so that by the grace of God he might taste death for everyone. Since the children have flesh and blood, he too shared in their humanity so that by his death he might break the power of him who holds the power of death—that is, the devil— and free those who all their lives were held in slavery by their fear of death.” Romans 5:17 “For if, by the trespass of the one man (Adam), death reigned through that one man, how much more will those who receive God’s abundant provision of grace and of the gift of righteousness, reign in life through the one man, Jesus Christ!” Hebrews 2:8,9,14,15.
In your own words, why did Jesus come the first time as a baby, in human form? ________________________________
Whom do you obey, Satan or God ? _________
How are we set free? _________
John 8:31.32,36 Jesus says to those who believe Him:
“If you continue in My word, then you are truly disciples of Mine;
and you will know the truth, and the truth will make you free.
If the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed."
Victorious !
When we believe Jesus, confessing our sins and receiving his forgiveness, we are made new and given authority to fight sin and the Devil with truth and power. Ask Jesus to teach you how to use His authority. “These, then, are the things you should teach. Encourage and rebuke with all authority.” Titus 2:15 In the following verses, we see that the real battle is in the unseen realm. Faith helps us to see the fiery darts of Satan -his lies that feed our pride and doubts and fears. These lies can turn into strongholds if we believe them. “Submit to God, resist the devil and he will flee from you” James 4:7. We have authority to tear down strongholds in our own lives and in the lives around us.
Remember, however, that if we are holding sin in our own hearts it diminishes our authority.
Psalm 66:18 “If I had cherished sin in my heart, the Lord would not have listened.”
First remove the stronghold in your own life, then you can tear down strongholds in others!
1 John 1:9 ,”If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins
and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”
Then you can pray with authority!
“I stand in the authority of Jesus Christ my Lord and I command every lie to come down in Jesus’ name. I pull down the strongholds of pride and doubts and command humility and truth to flood in. I take every thought captive so that ____’s mind will be transformed, and think Christ’s thoughts. I thank you Lord for the victory. Amen.”
1. "Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but...against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God." Ephesians 6:10ff "...in truthful speech and in the power of God...we destroy strongholds. The weapons of our warfare are not physical [weapons of flesh and blood]. Our weapons [Shield of Faith: unwavering trust in all God is and does, and Sword of the Spirit: God’s truth found in the Bible] are divinely powerful for the destruction of fortresses. We are destroying false arguments and every exalted and proud thing that sets itself up against the [true] knowledge of God, and we are taking every thought captive to the obedience of Christ.” 2 Cor. 2:6; 10:4-5 (AMP) "For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword..." Heb. 4:12
We take our stand against the devil's schemes by holding up our shield of f______ (trust in God), renewing our thoughts, protecting our minds with the helmet of s_________ (saved, being saved) and killing lies with the sword of the S_______, which is the Word of God (the Bible). We destroy Satan's strongholds through t_______ speech and the p_______ of God. We destroy false arguments and take every t________ captive, thinking Christ's thoughts, not Satan's! We are made alive with Christ and as we submit to Him we have His authority and power to resist Satan, “the god of this world” (find and read 2 Cor. 4:4; 1 John 5:19; Eph. 2:2).
2. Acts 26:18. ”...open their eyes, so they may turn from darkness to light and from the power of Satan to God. Then they will receive forgiveness for their sins and be given a place among God’s people, who are set apart by faith in me.”
We can help people escape the power of S______ by helping to open their eyes to God’s truth so they can turn to God and receive f__________ of their sins and a place in God’s family (see also Ephesians 6:10-18). Satan fights this and tries to intimidate believers, but 1 John 4:4 tells us “greater is He that is within us than he that is in the world.”
3. 1 Peter 5:8-9 "Be alert, be on watch! Your enemy, the Devil, roams around like a roaring lion, looking for someone to devour. Be firm in your faith and resist him, because you know that other believers in all the world are going through the same kind of sufferings." We are to be a_______ and r_________ Satan. (see Matthew 26:41)
4. 1 John 2:14,16 “I write to you…because you are strong, and the word of God lives in you, and you have overcome the evil one. Do not love the world or anything in the world. For everything in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—comes not from the Father but from the world.” We are s_________ and o_____________ Satan when we know and love God’s truth and reject the world’s lies and values. (see Colossians 3:16)
In the final 7 years things will get very difficult and deceptive. We need to be strong in our faith if we are to overcome the lies. Keep studying to know the truth and defeat the Enemy!
DAY 4 STUDY
What Happens in ‘The End’?
Details of the Events, Timing and Terms of ‘The End’
Matt 24:3
The disciples asked Jesus,
“What will be the sign of your coming and of
the end of the age?"
Daniel "... you will enter into rest,
and rise again for your allotted portion
at the end of the age.”
Dan 12:13 (NASB 1995)
These verses above tell us that Jesus’ coming brings in the end of the age. We also learn that deceased believers will rise at the end of the age- called the rapture. Then, we who are alive at his coming, will be transformed and follow them “in the twinkling of an eye” (1 Cor. 15:52) “For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever. But you, brothers and sisters, are not in darkness so that this day should surprise you like a thief.” 1 Thess 4:16-17, 5:4
The End encompasses four events:
1. The 2nd Coming of J________
2. The r_________ of those who love Jesus
3. The D___ of the Lord’s wrath
4. Jesus hands the kingdom over to His F_________
Let’s see what else the Bible says about The End —
that is, The coming of Jesus and the Rapture of Believers,
followed by The Day of the Lord judgments.
1. THE LAST TIME
I PETER 1:5,7 “...through faith (we) are shielded by God's power until the coming of the salvation that is ready to be revealed in the last time… when Jesus Christ is revealed.” (1 Thes 5:9,23,24; Heb 9:27,28; Rom 8:18-23; John 6:39,40)
A. Jesus will be revealed at his second coming, in the l______ t_____. Daniel 12:4-7 describes the final 3.5 years as “times, time and half a time.” (ie “time” = 1 year) This could be a clue: Is our salvation revealed as the last “time” (year) is about to begin?
B. We are shielded by God’s power until the coming of our s_____________.
C. What does that mean? If Jesus is our Savior don’t we already have salvation? How does our salvation come when Christ is revealed? Find the answer in the verses below. At Christ’s coming our b________ will be saved, made supernatural and new!
PHIL 3:20-21 “But our citizenship is in heaven. And we eagerly await a Savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ, who, by the power that enables him to bring everything under his control, will transform our lowly bodies so that they will be like his glorious body.” 1 JOHN 3:2 “...when Christ appears, we shall be like him, for we shall see him as he is.” 1 COR 15:52-53 “For the trumpet will sound, the dead will be raised imperishable, and we will be changed. For the perishable must clothe itself with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortality.”
Understanding the 3 Parts of Salvation:
You see, when we ask Jesus to be our Savior and Lord,
our spirits are saved, seated in the heavenlies. We are securely His, adopted into His forever family!
(Eph. 2:4-6; John 10:27-30).
However, our souls (mind, emotions, will) are being saved,
renewed as we trust and obey God’s Word, the Bible
(Rom. 8:12-16,12:2; Col. 3:9-10; 1 Cor. 6:19-20; 2 Cor. 4:16,5:15; Eph. 4:22-24)
At Christ’s coming, our bodies will be saved, made new and supernatural.
(Job 19:25-27; 1 Cor. 15:52)
2. THE LAST DAY
According to Jesus in JOHN 6:39-44, when are Christ followers raised up/ raptured? Jesus said, “And this is the will of him who sent me, that I shall lose none of all those he has given me, but raise them up at the last day. For my Father’s will is that everyone who looks to the Son and believes in him shall have eternal life, and I will raise them up at the last day.” (see John 11:24)
We are r________ up at the last day. So, another term for “the end” is the l_____ d___, when Jesus raises up all who know Him as Savior and gives them new immortal bodies.
Is this another clue? What is the last day? This may seem complicated, so feel free to skip to the next question! In Daniel 9:24-27 a prophecy concerning 490 years is given. A number of things will be seen by the end of the 490 years. They are to “...bring in everlasting righteousness, to seal up vision and prophecy and to anoint the Most Holy Place.” Using the term 70 Weeks (literally 70 Sevens = 490 years) the prophecy says that Jesus (the Anointed One) would be ‘cut off ’ at the end of the 69th ‘week’ (483 years after the prophecy was made). Jesus was crucified exactly 483 years later! But the final 7 years (final “seven/week”) have yet to be seen, for the predicted prophecies have yet to be completely fulfilled. There has been a 2000 year break in the 70 “weeks”. [ We see the same 2000 year break happen in the middle of a sentence Jesus reads from Isaiah 61:2. In Luke 4:16-21 Jesus says Isaiah 61:2 is fulfilled in his first coming, “to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor…” but he doesn’t read the second part of the sentence, “...and the day of vengeance of our God…” which will be fulfilled at His second coming! ]
That final week is described in Daniel 9:27 like this: “the prince… will confirm a covenant with many for one week (that final week that is yet to happen), but in the middle of the week (3.5 years in, 3.5 years left) he will put an end to sacrifice and offering…” (Matt. 24: 15; 2 Thes. 2:3-4) God tells Daniel that “the end will come like a flood” and in the end believers’ bodies will come to life, which we know is the Rapture. We believe the final year of Daniel’s 70th ‘week’ is “the end”. Interesting that Jesus says believers will be raptured at the “last day”. If a “week” means 7 years then “at the last day” would be at the beginning of the last year, when 6 years are done and there is 1 year to go. Keep studying to see how it all fits.
3. THAT DAY
2 TIM 1:12, 4:7-8 “For this reason, even though I suffer as I do, I am not ashamed; for I know whom I have believed, and I am convinced that He is able to guard what I have entrusted to Him (his spirit) for that day. I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day—and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing.”
When J_______ the righteous Judge appears he will rapture all those who have trusted in Him for His righteousness, since our righteousness is as filthy rags: Isaiah 64:6, Eph. 2:8,9. We need to be convinced that God is able to keep us, both in the easy and the difficult times. All of us who have longed for his a__________ will be rewarded on that day. We will be given immortal bodies and gather to worship at the throne of God. For Believers it will be a day (year) of rest and reward in heaven (Heb. 3:18-19). For those who have rejected God, the Day of the Lord will be a year of wrath on the earth (Isaiah 34:8; Obadiah 1:15). For the remnant of Israel it will be a year that ends in redemption and restoration in Jerusalem. (Isaiah 4:2-6; ch. 35, ch. 62; Jer. 31:33,34)
4. THE DAY of THE LORD
A. 1 Cor. 1:7,8 “...you eagerly wait for our Lord Jesus Christ to be revealed. He will keep you strong to the end, so that you will be blameless on the day of our Lord Jesus.”
How long will Jesus keep Believers strong? To the e____ when he is r__________ and the Church is raised up. His coming brings in the d_____ of our Lord.
B. Zeph. 1:14,15,17 “The great day of the Lord is near— near and coming quickly. The cry on the day of the Lord is bitter; the Mighty Warrior (Jesus) shouts his battle cry. That day will be a day of wrath—a day of distress and anguish, a day of trouble and ruin, a day of darkness and gloom, “I will bring such distress on all people that they will grope about… because they have sinned against the Lord.” Daniel 8:19. “He said: “I am going to tell you what will happen later in the time of wrath, because the vision concerns the appointed time of the end.”
The day of the Lord comes at the appointed time of the e____. It is a time of w______ and judgment.
God says he takes no delight in people rejecting him and bearing the consequences. He calls it his strange work to judge harshly: Isaiah 28:21,22 “The Lord will rise up… to do his work, his strange work…Now stop your mocking, or your chains will become heavier; the Lord, the Lord Almighty, has told me of the destruction decreed against the whole land.” Ezekiel 33:11 “Say to them, ‘As surely as I live, declares the Sovereign Lord, I take no pleasure in the death of the wicked, but rather that they turn from their ways and live. Turn!”
C. Revelation 6:12,16,17 “I watched as he opened the sixth seal ...hide us from the face of him who sits on the throne and from the wrath of the Lamb! For the great day of Their wrath has come, and who is able to withstand it?" (see 2 Thes. 1:5-10)
The Day of the Lord’s wrath happens in “the end”. We are told that God will keep us strong to “the end” when Christ is r__________ for all to see. When does the world understand that God’s wrath is about to fall? As the ____ Seal is broken off the Scroll and sky is rolled back. If the last seven years are described as seven days (a week) then a day would equal a year: The Day of the Lord, we believe, will be 1 y______ long. Isaiah 34:8 “For the Lord has a d______ of vengeance, a y_______ of retribution, to uphold Zion’s cause,” 63:4 “It was for me the day of vengeance; the year for me to redeem had come.“
Those who love Jesus will be taken off the earth.
Those who reject Jesus will experience the wrath of God.
The remnant of Israel will believe and be saved.
So we see that the Day of the Lord judgments begin the day that the Lord returns. These events are announced by the lifting of the 6th Seal on the Scroll in Revelation 6. When the 7th and final Seal is broken, the Scroll will be opened and Judgment will begin. After Christ- followers are removed from the earth, The Trumpet and Bowl Judgments will be carried out on the Antichrist and all who have rejected the love of God and gone their own way. Finally, when the wrath of God is finished, the earth will be renewed and Christ will reign for a thousand years with His Bride (the resurrected believers and the saved remnant of Israel) over a small number of survivors from the nations who did not bow to the Antichrist by receiving the Mark of the Beast- 666.
DAY 5 STUDY
How do we endure to the end?
How do we resist Satan?
We resist Satan by not accepting every thought that comes our way!
If a thought doesn’t line up with God’s truth, reject it and immediately speak the truth, praising God in song or a Bible verse. This is true for thoughts concerning yourself and others. Speak blessing and hope. Reject grumbling, cursing and lies, as these give Satan a foothold to create havoc in your life and others.
1. Ephesians 4:25-27 “Therefore each of you must put off lies and speak truthfully to your neighbor... Do not let the sun go down while you are still angry (forgive quickly), and do not give the devil a foothold.”
How do we resist and defeat Satan and keep him from getting a foothold in our life that will later become a stronghold?________________________
Refuse to entertain the spirit of offense! Do you get easily offended and hold grudges? Stop It! Satan gains a stronghold when you don’t forgive.
2. Galatians 2:20 “I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.” Colossians 3:12,13 “Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you.”
Dead people do not get irritated or offended! Poke them and they don’t scream. When Satan tempts you with unforgiveness or offense just declare, “I refuse to be offended. My old self is dead and as a new creation, God lives in me!” Forgive as the Lord f_______ you- completely, as a gift of undeserved grace. Remember, Jesus died for all sins, for all time. When we refuse to forgive someone we are saying that Christ’s sacrifice on the cross was not enough! Pray blessing on the one who hurt you. God promises to deal with that person (Rom. 12:19). Do life God’s way and Satan will flee from you (James 4:6,7). Who in your life do you need to forgive?________ Forgiving is not saying what happened was okay. It means that you won’t let the hurt fester in you any longer. You’ve probably heard that holding onto bitterness is like drinking poison and expecting the other person to drop dead! Release it and step into the newness of Life that Christ has for you!
3. Romans 12:2 “Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.” (know and claim God’s truth) Phil. 4:8 “Finally… if anything is excellent or praiseworthy— think on these things.” Also study Eph. 4:17-32; 1 Peter 1:13-15; James 3:17,18; Col. 3:12-14; John 15: 4,5; Gal 5
How do we renew our minds? Don’t c__________ to the world’s ways but be t____________ by thinking God’s thoughts instead of Satan’s! If your thoughts were displayed for all to see how would people react? God sees all your thoughts. He knows what you obsess about, what you worry about, what you fill your mind with through music, conversations, the TV and internet. Ask Him to give you a desire to fill your mind with His thoughts and to reject the world’s ways! Read Hebrews 12:1-7.
And then, one day…
All creation will SHOUT praise to Jesus and the final 7 years will begin. We believe the Satan-filled Antichrist will claim that praise for himself and deceive people into thinking he is their savior: Seal 1= white horse. He will promise peace, do miracles and be the world leader people think they are looking for. Seals 2-4 show the white horse turning red (wars), then black (famines), then putrid green (death for a fourth of the world's population through disease, earthquakes) and the wild beast, which we believe refers to the Antichrist as he declares himself to be God and kills those who won’t bow down to him. The church is not whisked away, but is left here to be a light shining in a dark world, leading people to God. Seal 5 shows us there will be Martyrs, witnesses who die as they proclaim Jesus as Savior and Lord. Before God's wrath falls, Jesus will take those who love him out of this world when Cosmic signs announce His second coming as Seal 6 is lifted. These same signs immediately usher in the Day of God’s wrath. Seal 7 is Silence before judgment as the Scroll is finally opened. After the church is called up, God pours out his wrath on all evil (Isaiah 34:1-10) and the remnant of Israel will repent and be saved. (Heb 8:10,11,12). We will reign with Jesus on a renewed earth for 1000 years and for eternity in a new heaven and earth with no more death, sickness or pain! "But in keeping with his promise we are looking forward to a new heaven and a new earth, where righteousness dwells." 2 Peter 3:13 (see also Rev 16:10-11; 20:1-10)
4. The Bible warns us: "...the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but wanting to have their ears tickled, they will accumulate for themselves teachers in accordance with their own desires, and will turn away their ears from the truth." 2 Tim 4:3-4
The popular teaching today about the Rapture and Coming of Jesus is that it is secret and silent without any signs needed before it occurs. They say the church will not experience the difficult things in Revelation. How could this teaching be dangerous?___________________ ________________________ ________________________________
Isn't a soldier better prepared for the battle if he or she knows they will be in the war? _____ If soldiers are told they will not actually experience the battle then they will not see the need to prepare and will easily be disillusioned when things get more difficult. God has taken the time to preserve his Word for us that tells us what’s to come. Jesus said the End will be a time of great difficulty. We must be prepared! “For at that time there will be great tribulation, unseen from the beginning of the world until now, and never to be seen again.” Matthew 24:21
1 John 1:19
We know that we are of God,
and that the whole world is under the power of the evil one.”
Resist the Devil and stand firm in your faith!
5. 2 Tim. 23-4,22 “Join me in suffering, like a good soldier of Christ Jesus. A soldier refrains from entangling himself in civilian affairs, in order to please the one who enlisted him. Flee from youthful passions and pursue righteousness, faith, love, and peace, together with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart.”
Why is a good soldier a powerful analogy for the Christian? Think about all you’ve studied. ______________ ______________________ _______________________ ____________________ _____________________ _____________________ __________________
· So remember, we must know our weapon (the Bible) and hold up our shield of faith (trust in God) to defeat Satan’s lies.
· We must be focused and act in the authority of our Commander Jesus
· We must say ‘no’ to our old desires, not expecting a life of ease, but rather expecting suffering as we rescue the captives.
· We must know our enemies: The World’s Values, Our Old Nature, and the Devil. We are at war and the Devil is a lying, accusing, murderous thief. He is out to destroy you!
· We must stay with our troops, not giving up meeting with other believers. We need each other to defend, encourage and instruct. (Study these verses as well - 1 John 2:14-16, Rom. 8:5, John 8:44)
“Let us not neglect meeting together, as some have made a habit,
but let us encourage one another, and all the more
as you see the Day approaching.”
Hebrews 10:25
“For God has not given us a spirit of fear,
but of power, love, and self-control.”
2 Timothy 1:7
